startups + marketing + nonsense
Several designers from Columbus have created a cool social campaign to promote getting a NBA team to Columbus. The viral campaign had some steam at launch as it hit local radio shows and news broadcasts. There was quite a bit of chatter on Facebook and Twitter from the locals with support of the movement. The site currently has just under 6,000 joining the call.
Another cool part of the site is where they ask for potential teams names and logos. Here are a couple of the submissions. Love the cow with sneakers.
In the end I think it would be great to have an NBA team in Columbus. I would go to a game or two each year. Central Ohio already has two professional sports teams (NHL and MLS) but both still live under the shadow of Ohio State Football.
